33 pigs in two Cagayan towns found to have African swine fever

The Provincial Veterinary Office in Cagayan said 33 pigs in the towns of Peñablanca and Alcala were found to have African swine fever (ASF).

Twelve pigs in Peñablanca were subjected to culling and were buried after showing symptoms of ASF, according to a report on Unang Balita on Monday.

Meanwhile, 21 pigs in Barangays Centro Sur and Tupang in Alcala also tested positive for ASF.

Authorities prohibited the entry and exit of pork meat and live hogs to and from the ASF-positive areas.

Widespread disinfection will also be conducted in the said areas. —KG, GMA Integrated News
