Comelec to focus on BARMM voter registration ahead of 1st parliamentary polls in 2025
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will focus on voter registration in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as the first parliamentary polls are set in 2025.
"Imo-monitor po nating mabuti 'yung registration natin d'yan sa Bangsamoro sapagkat for the first time meron po tayong eleksyon para sa Bangsamoro parliament ngayong darating na 2025," Comelec Chairman George Garcia said in an interview on Unang Balita.
(We will monitor the registration process in BARMM closely because it is the first time that there will be an election for their parliament.)
Apart from that, Garcia reiterated that they will also check double and multiple registrations in the country.
The voter registration started on Monday, February 12, and will run until September 30, 2024.
All Comelec offices will hold activities to celebrate National Voters' Day on Monday to promote and encourage voter registration awareness.
At least three million Filipinos are expected to register nationwide.
To reach this number, the Comelec has partnered with several mall owners and operators to host the Register Anywhere Project (RAP) in around 170 malls nationwide. —Hana Bordey/KBK, GMA Integrated News
