Remulla orders quick resolution of Jade Castro, others case
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla on Friday ordered the Quezon Provincial Prosecutor to ensure the speedy resolution of the case of film director Jade Castro and three others.
In a message to reporters, Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano said that Remulla instructed the Quezon prosecutors to make sure that “justice is dispensed with appropriately and expeditiously.”
Authorities arrested Castro, Ernesto Orcinem, Noel Mariano, and Dominic Valerio Ramos over their alleged involvement in the burning of a modern jeepney in Catanauan town.
However, Castro, Orcinem, Mariano, and Ramos cried foul over their arrest, saying they were innocent and were merely taking a vacation. They said that there was also no warrant of arrest presented during their apprehension.
Meanwhile, Clavano said that the four had waived Article 125 of the Revised Penal Code.
“On this case specifically, the respondents have already waived their rights under Article 125 of the RPC in order to submit a counter affidavit where the prosecutor will evaluate their defenses,” he said.
The four are detained at the Catanauan Municipal Police Station and facing arson charges. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
