Death toll in Davao de Oro landslide climbs to 7
The number of dead individuals in the landslide in Maco, Davao de Oro has climbed up to seven, according to a "24 Oras" report by Jestoni Jumamil on Wednesday.
The local government unit of Maco said the seventh corpse was recovered from ground zero at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, following the recovery of the first 6 bodies at 2 p.m.
At least 31 persons were injured in the incident. Search and rescue operations are ongoing for the reportedly 48 individuals missing despite the rain at the site.
Meanwhile, around 800 families in nearby barangays have been moved to evacuation centers to ensure their safety.
The fatal landslide occurred on Tuesday night at Zone 1, Barangay Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro, burying 2 buses, which reportedly included employees of Apex Mining Corporation. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
