BARMM governors affirm commitment to region's 'full-scale development'

Several governors of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have affirmed their commitment to achieving "full-scale development” of the provinces under their jurisdiction.

“We, the Governors of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao, stand resolutely committed to the full-scale development of our provinces, unwaveringly pursuing our enduring vision of achieving profound peace and prosperity,” the joint statement read.

The statement, issued on Friday, February 2, was signed by Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael Sali, Basilan Governor Hadjiman Hataman Salliman, Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr., and Maguindanao del Norte Governor Abdulraof Macacua.

The governors said that their collaborative efforts with the security sector and other essential stakeholders assisted in strengthening the landscape of peace and security in the region.

The officials also credited the implementation of peace efforts between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) that led to “profound and substantial outcomes of peace that resonate powerfully across the entire region.”

“Bolstered by these accomplishments, we emphatically pledge our unwavering support to the ongoing implementation process of the peace agreement in our provinces," they added.

Meanwhile, the governors lauded President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for supporting peace and development in BARMM.

“His consistent and substantial policy statements and programs have instilled a sense of stability since assuming office,” the statement said.

“The Bagong Pilipinas program stands as a testament to his steadfast commitment to ensuring that the government’s presence is felt through the efficient delivery of services to people and communities," they continued.

The governors also collectively called for unity among Filipinos for the country to further develop.

“This is an impassioned collective call to our constituents and the entire nation, urging steadfastness and unity to achieve our shared aspirations. The Bangsamoro People are resolved not to regress but to forge ahead together as one indomitable force, proudly celebrating our Bangsamoro identity as an integral part of the Philippine Republic,” the BARMM governors said.
