Baguio residents wearing flower-themed costumes join Panagbenga 2024 parade

Baguio City’s streets were filled with residents in traditional costumes and flower-themed outfits at the opening day parade and ceremonies of the Panagbenga Festival 2024 on Saturday.

With the theme "Celebrating Traditions, Embracing Innovation," Baguio residents celebrated through vibrant music and dancing.

The ceremony started with a parade assembly and community prayers in the early morning, followed by a parade at 8 a.m. at the Panagbenga Park on South Drive and marched all the way to the Melvin Jones Grandstand and Football Grounds.

Present at the parade were the Philippine Military Academy Band with the PMA Cadets, Miss Universe Philippines Baguio Tarah Valencia, and local government officials.

Every February, Baguio celebrates Panagbenga, an annual flower festival honoring the city's floral bounty.

The word "Panagbenga" originated from the Kankanaey dialect, which translates to English as "season of blooming." – VBL, GMA Integrated News
