7-year-old killed by playmate in accidental shooting

A seven-year-old boy was shot dead by his 10-year-old playmate while they were playing in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur.

According to a report on "State of the Nation," police said the children found the gun at a farm.

The older boy thinking it was a toy, pointed the gun at the victim and shot him.

The authorities were able to recover the gun and bullet casings at the scene of the crime.

The families of both children have settled and no charges will be filed against the ten-year-old, who is currently in custody of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

The police are also working to find out why the suspect was able to find the gun at the farm. —NB, GMA Integrated News
