2 dead in Davao City landslide

A landslide in Davao City killed two people, GMA Regional TV One Mindanao's Kent Abrigana reported Friday on 24 Oras.

The landslide in Purok 5, Barangay Tigato killed 44-year-old Ernesto Paciño, who was buried under a pile of dirt and rocks.

The victim’s cousin Juramie dela Torre was also buried in the landslide, but he fortunately survived unscathed.

“Natusok siya sa upuan. Nakatayo pa siya. Pagtayo ko, tumilapon ako. Pagtilapon ko, natamaan ko ang dingding. Hindi ko na alam kasi nawalan ako ng malay pero nahulugan siya ng bubong,” said dela Tore.

Meanwhile, a 7-year-old in Marilog District was also killed in a landslide.

The victim’s parents and sibling were injured in the incident.

Authorities banned residents from returning to the landslide-hit areas until these have been deemed safe.

These latest incidents followed a landslide in Monkayo that killed 10 people, with one critically injured and one still missing. — Jiselle Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
