Frost, temperature drop felt in Benguet

Frost covered the crops in Barangay Paoay in Benguet's Atok town due to the cold weather in the area.

According to GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon's Joanne Ponsoy's 24 Oras report on Friday, PAGASA said that the frost was a natural by-product of the drop in temperature.

“Sa Atok laging nagkakaroon ng frost kapag ganyan na bumbaba ang temperature natin because of the difference na 12.9°C dito, sa kanila nasa 10- or nine-point something °C. May mga areas na nag-frost specially sa water ways,” said PAGASA Baguio Station Chief Meteorological Officer Engineer Larry Esperanza.

Similarly, in Baguio City, the lowest recorded temperature on Friday morning dropped to 12.9°C due to the Northeast Monsoon.

“Ang pinaka-lowest temperature is either January or February.’Yung forecast for the month of February is nine-point something °C. Pwedeng bumaba pa ‘yang 12.9 °C,” added Esperanza.

In 2023, the lowest recorded temperature in Baguio City was 10°C on February 16. — Jiselle Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
