Laguna landslide kills worker, injures 2 others

A construction worker was killed while two others were seriously injured after a cliff along a river collapsed at Barangay Calumpang in Liliw, Laguna on Thursday afternoon.

Based on a report by the Liliw police, the fatality was identified as 36-year-old Vijay Estanda Salisod, while the injured persons were Eduardo De Chavez Dela Cueva, 59, and Joel Apostol Basco, 41.

At about 4:30 p.m., the victims were constructing a riprap for a dam when the cliff collapsed and buried them. Co-workers and emergency responders pulled them out of the debris.

The victims were brought to the Nagcarlan District Hospital for medical treatment. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
