The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is set to vote on the proposed creation of eight new municipalities in the Bangsamoro Special Geographic Area (SAG), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Wednesday.
In a statement, the Comelec said the plebiscite for the ratification of the establishment of the proposed municipalities of Pahamuddin, Kadayangan, Nabalawag, Old Kaabakan, Kapalawan, Malidegao, Tugunan, and Ligawasan will be conducted on April 13, 2024.
The SAG consists of the 63 barangays of North Cotabato which was voted to be part of the BARMM during the 2019 plebiscite.
If the majority votes in the affirmative, the April plebiscite will lead to the barangays having their municipalities.
