Traslacion, Black Nazarene replica procession pushes through in Naga despite rains

Devotees of the Black Nazarene did not mind the rains on Monday as they joined the Traslacion and procession of Nazareno replicas in Naga City, Camarines Sur.

The procession started before 7 p.m. with the image of the Black Nazarene leaving the Holy Cross Parish in Barangay Tabuco, according to a report by Cris Novelo of GMA Regional TV Balitang Bicolandia on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

Many devotees took part in the procession which ended in Plaza Quezon.

A priest then blessed the replicas of the image of Black Nazarene brought by some devotees to the plaza.

Devotees also lined up for the Pahalik, wherein they could touch a part of the image of the Black Nazarene.

The event was peaceful and orderly, the parish priest of the Holy Cross Parish said.

"Generally, peaceful naman po ang Traslacion natin. Very solemn kaya pasalamat tayo sa Diyos at ginabayan ang mga deboto ng Itim na Nazareno," parish priest Rev. Fr. Eugene Lubigan said.

(Generally, our Traslacion was peaceful. It was very solemn so we thank God that the devotees of the Black Nazarene were guided.)

Authorities said a medical team and police are on standby to assist devotees.

"Meron tayong ambulance at saka medical team na naka-standby. Meron na ring mga tourist police," Ernesto Elcamel, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Naga CIT, said.

(We have an ambulance and medical team on standby. There are also tourist police deployed.)

On Tuesday morning, there was still a long line of devotees for the Pahalik.

Masses will also be held on Tuesday.

The image of the Black Nazarene will be brought back to Holy Cross Parish via penitential foot procession on Tuesday afternoon. —KG, GMA Integrated News
