Bocaue fireworks shops see brisk sales ahead of New Year's Eve

A day before New Year's Eve, several individuals rushed to buy firecrackers despite the authorities' recommendation to use alternative noisemakers to mark the celebration.

According to Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras Weekend'' on Saturday, the supplies of some firecrackers, such as kwitis (skyrockets), lusis, and ''sawa,'' have decreased in some stores in Bocaue, Bulacan.

This is because of the influx of people buying firecrackers in the area.

Some said they traveled to Bocaue to get them at cheaper prices.

Fireworks are also being sold in bulk.

In Malolos City, a temporary fireworks store is open for 24 hours.

Meanwhile, authorities warned that it is prohibited to sell fireworks online and that it is punishable by imprisonment. — Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA Integrated News
