6-year-old killed in fire in Antipolo City
A six-year-old child died in a fire that hit a residential area in Antipolo City on Saturday night, the Antipolo City Fire Station said.
The child's father, meanwhile, was injured, according to a report by Luisito Santos on Super Radyo dzBB.
The fire started at 9:31 p.m. in a residential area in Barangay Cupang.
The parents were outside the house while the child was left inside at the time of the incident, investigation showed.
The victim was trapped inside the burning home and was not able to get out.
The fire reached the second alarm before firemen were able to put it out at 11:01 p.m.
Forty houses were affected, with 50 families rendered homeless.
Initial estimate of property damage was placed at P750,000.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Antipolo said an unattended candle may have sparked the fire since the victim's house had no electricity.
The BFP is conducting an investigation into the incident. —KG, GMA Integrated News
