Heavy rains cause waist-deep floods in parts of Quezon
Parts of Quezon remained flooded on Saturday after heavy rains poured overnight.
The flooded areas were in the towns of Tagkawayan, Calauag, Lopez, Gumaca, Plaridel and Atimonan.
In Lopez town, the flood was already waist-deep.
Heavy rains continued to pour on Saturday.
Motorists traveling on Maharlika Highway in Atimonan and Plaridel had difficulty as the road was flooded.
The Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of residents.
Meanwhile, the three-day camping activity of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Tagkawayan was cut short after the venue got flooded.
Some rice fields also got flooded as the river overflowed its banks.
PAGASA said Quezon, Laguna, and the Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Saturday due to the shear line. Moderate to at times heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides, it added. —Peewee Bacuño/KG, GMA Integrated News
