Land dispute leads to shooting in Rizal

A dispute over land in a subdivision led to a shooting incident between security guards and some residents in Barangay Bombongan, Morong, Rizal.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Chino Gaston on Wednesday, the encounter which was caught on video injured one security guard.

“Nagbakod [kasi] si Subdivision, tapos siyempre pumapalag yung mga tao kasi ang claim nila mawawalan sila ng daan. Nagkaroon ng commotion between the two parties that resulted to the shooting incident,” said Morong Chief Police Major Rosalino Panlaqui.

(The subdivision erected a fence, so of course the people protested because they claimed their passageway was blocked. There was a commotion between the two parties that resulted in the shooting incident.)

“Hindi po kami ang makakapagdesisyon kung sino ang rightful owner. So, si korte ang magsasabi yung property na yan ay pagmamayari ng ganitong tao,” he added.

(We can't decide who is the rightful owner. So, the court will be the one to say who owns the property.)

The police arrested two suspects seen drawing guns in the video.

Two guns and the service pistol of a guard, who said his gun was stolen from him, were recovered near one of the suspect's home. The suspects said that they were not behind the shooting. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
