Undercover officer shot dead in Cebu City buy-bust

A police officer was shot dead during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Pagtambayayong, Barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City on Wednesday.

According to a Super Radyo dzBB report by Decemay Padilla, the two suspects found out that they were transacting with an undercover policeman, Police Staff Sergeant Ryan Baculi, and shot him.

While the victim was able to shoot one of the suspects in arm, they escaped the scene.

Baculi died in the hospital.

According to PRO7 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Pelare, one of the suspects was identified as Atong Rafols alias Atong, an alleged gun for hire with previous cases of murder and frustrated murder.

Police are currently investigating reports of the suspects receiving assistance from a barangay worker for their escape. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
