Barangay kagawad wounded after losing candidate chases residents with knife

A candidate for kagawad who lost in the recent barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) was caught on CCTV attacking residents with a knife in Barangay Uno, Cavite City.

According to John Consulta's report on "State of the Nation," the suspect alyas Ateng wounded a barangay kagawad who approached him as he arrived in a neighborhood on a bicycle.

The victim Kagawad Rodelio Famy Jr. managed to flee from the suspect who proceeded to attack the nearby persons who ran to their homes.

The suspect confessed to the crime but said he didn't plan to target the victim or stab his peers.

He said he doubted that his party mates supported him in the last elections.

“Di ko naman talaga intensyon na saksakin sila. Ang nangyari nga d'un ang kalaban ko, yung isang kagawad, pareho kami kagawad, nagtalo kami. Narinig ni Kap, lumabas siya at inaawat ako. Nagalit pa saken,” Ateng said.

(I never really intended to stab them. What happened then [is] my opponent, the other kagawad, both of us were kagawad, we argued. Kap heard, he came outside and stopped me. He even got angry at me.)

Famy said he only wanted to talk to the suspect.

He and a kagawad who was also chased will press charges against the suspect.
