2 missing Filipino fishermen rescued in WPS
Two Filipino fishermen who were reported missing on Thursday in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) have been rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The PCG said the fishermen were in the vicinity waters off Bulig Shoal / First Thomas Shoal when they went missing after their motorbanca ran out of fuel.
According to the PCG their boat drifted away from their mother boat, FB Lantis Andrei, due to strong winds and current.
A rescue operation was immediately launched after the incident was reported to the PCG.
According to the coast guard, the missing fishermen were found and rescued the next day, October 27, 2023, after the PCG deployed BRP Sindangan in the vicinity waters.
The fishermen were then provided with medical assistance and meals and were later turned over to their mother boat in good physical condition. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
