Teacher in Leyte under probe for making students squat, beating them with broom

A teacher in a school in Leyte is under investigation after a video caught him making several students squat and beating them with a broom (walis tingting).

According to a "24 Oras" report on Friday, the students were from the Burabod Elementary School in Burauen, Leyte.

In the video shared by a relative of one of the students, the children were seen squatting near the walls as the teacher went around to hit them with the broom.

The Department of Education (DepEd) in Eastern Visayas has already summoned the school head and the teacher involved in the incident.

The DepEd also said that it condemns any form of abuse, discrimination, or bullying done to the students.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
