3 dead, 3 injured in Bohol accident after driver fell asleep on wheel


TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Three persons were killed while three others were injured when their vehicle hit a  bridge after the driver fell asleep behind the wheel near the chocolate hills in Carmen town, Bohol province Monday morning.

The fatalities were identified as Abelardo Cagampang, Marlon Ondos and Janice BonBon.

The injured passengers were identified as Lucino Cagampang, 34, Jasper Ardones, 23 and the driver Jun Re Malisa Cagampang, 39.

All passengers were from Davao del Sur.

Police Staff Sergeant Rustico Bitasolo Jr., traffic investigator at Carmen Police Station, said the incident happened at 6:20 a.m. on Monday

He said they were on their way to Carmen town when the driver of the Nissan NV3 Van fell asleep. The vehicle hit the side wall of the  Camanayon Bridge in Barangay Buenos Aires.

Bitasolo said the van was loaded with electronic products. 

The passengers and the driver were all transported to Cong. Simeon G. Toribio Memorial Hospital. Three of the five passengers died on their way to the hospital. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
