2 pastors, suspects in killing of Mr. Cagayan de Oro bet, arrested
Two pastors, suspects in the killing of a Mr. Cagayan de Oro pageant candidate, were arrested by Agora police in Barangay Lapasan in Cagayan de Oro City, according to the report of GMA Regional TV One Mindanao's Cyril Chaves on "Saksi."
By virtue of a warrant of arrest, Pastor Dimver Andales and junior Pastor Jether Nonot were arrested in Cagayan de Oro City for murder charges.
The case is in relation to the killing of Mr. Cagayan de Oro 2023 candidate Adrian Fornillos last May.
"Base ito sa ebidensiya na ating nakalap. At the same time sa case process build-up napatunayan talaga natin kaya 'yan ang mga pangalan na lumabas," said Nazareth Police Chief Police Captain Byron-John Ratunil.
(This is based on evidence we gathered. At the same time the case process build-up proved it that is why those are the names that came out.)
After the crime, screenshots of the alleged exchange of messages between the girlfriend of Fornillos and a friend were shown. Based on these messages, it seemed that the girlfriend of Fornillos was in a relationship with Pastor Andales.
The camp of Andales denied all the charges, and said they are ready to answer the charges. They also said the pastor is innocent.
Atty. Robert Maestre, legal counsel of Andales, said the case has affected the work of his client as a pastor and his family.
Nonot, the other suspect, did not issue a statement.
The members of the victim's family were also at the police station but they did not give a statement. — BAP/KG, GMA Integrated News
