Pampanga, Bulacan cemeteries still flooded 2 weeks before Undas 2023
Undas 2023 or All Saints' Day is just two weeks away, but some cemeteries in Pampanga and Bulacan remain flooded.
At Sta. Elena Memorial Park in Masantol, Pampanga, personnel laid down cut grass ("talahib") for people to walk on to get to the tombs of their loved ones, according to a report by James Agustin on Unang Balita on Tuesday, based on information gathered by GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon.
At Santa Iglesia Katoliko Public Cemetery in Masantol, tombs were also flooded.
Residents said it has always been like this every year as All Saints' Day approaches, thus some prefer to just light candles in their homes to remember their departed loved ones.
The cemetery in Macabebe, Pampanga was also flooded, thus some people postponed the cleaning of tombs.
In Obando, Bulacan, some residents proceeded to clean tombs despite the flood which was due to rains and the high tide.
All Saints' Day (November 1) has been declared a special non-working day to allow people to visit the tombs of their loved ones in keeping with tradition. —KG, GMA Integrated News
