23-year-old SK candidate in Davao dies after cardiac arrest while playing basketball
A 23-year-old candidate for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman in Davao City suffered a cardiac arrest and died while playing basketball, according to the report of Rgil Relator for GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on "Saksi."
In CCTV footage, Philip Saladio Jr., a resident of Barangay Tawan-Tawan, was seen playing basketball when he seemed to have fainted.
The game was halted. Saladio was immediately taken to the hospital where he died after suffering from a cardiac arrest.
The parents of Saladio, who were at the basketball game watching him, did not expect the turn of events. They were not aware that their son had health issues.
"Hindi nga ako agad lumapit kasi akala ko natisod lang siguro," his mother, Melanie, said.
(I did not go near because I thought he only tripped and stumbled.)
Saladio's father said his son taught basketball to young kids and was an SK chairman candidate of Barangay Tawan-Tawan. — BAP/KG, GMA Integrated News
