Laguindingan Airport’s expansion project to start by December — CAAP
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Tuesday said it will start the modular expansion of the Laguindingan International Airport by December to accommodate the increasing number of its ridership.
At the televised public briefing, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the project is expected to be finished in six months.
“By December, magsisimula na iyong ating Laguindingan International Airport dahil masyado na pong mataas iyong ridership diyan. Kinakailangan po talaga ma-augment ang current facilities,” he said.

CAAP said it is implementing alternative approaches to immediately address the concerns of passengers about small spaces in check-in areas and passenger terminal buildings.
Due to this, CAAP decided to have expansions using a modular construction system for a sustainable, cost-effective, and fast solution.
“The modular construction system, which initially piloted at Borongan Airport, offers a sustainable approach to constructing terminal facilities with passenger amenities, as it minimizes construction waste,” CAAP said.
“It uses pre-fabricated structural steel, a sustainable and cost-effective approach that allows for flexibility in design and rapid construction,” it added.
