Davao renews sister city agreement with Jinjiang, China

Davao City has renewed its sister city agreement with Jinjiang City in Fujian Province, China, according to Vice President and former Davao Mayor Sara Duterte on Friday.

“Unang nagkaroon ng ugnayan ang Davao City sa Jinjiang habang mayor pa ako ng siyudad noong 2018 [the partnership between Davao and Jinjiang started when I was still mayor in 2018],” Duterte said in a Facebook post.

According to her post, she and her brother, current Davao Mayor Sebastian Duterte, met with Fujian Province Governor Zhao Long on Thursday.

“Ang negosasyon dito ay nagsimula din sa ilalim ng aking administrasyon bilang mayor sa tulong ng Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Davao,” she said.

[The negotiation started under my administration as mayor with the help of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Davao.]

Duterte said Zhao also met with former President Rodrigo Duterte.

In March, Davao and the Jinjiang Municipal Government signed the Framework Agreement for Economic, Trade, and Business Development.
