Comelec names new Cavite provincial board member

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday named Paolo Crisostomo as a provincial board member of the fifth district of Cavite.

The Comelec Special Provincial Board of Canvassers (SPBOC) proclaimed Crisostomo as a winning candidate in the May 2022 national elections after the Comelec First Division granted a petition declaring a certain Alvic Poblete a nuisance candidate.

“The proclamation was made on the basis of the June 14, 2022 Resolution of the Comelec First Division granting the petition filed by Crisostomo and the 16 March 2023 Writ of Execution, which directed, among others, the SPBOC to ‘count and canvass the votes for nuisance candidate Alvic Madlangsakay Poblete in favor of petitioner Francisco Paolo Poblete Crisostomo’ but to count only one vote in favor of Crisostomo in case there is a ballot ‘that contains votes in favor of both Francisco Paolo Poblete Crisostomo and … Alvic Madlangsakay Poblete’,” said Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco.

An amended election tally showed Crisostomo received a total of 103,783 votes in the 2022 elections. He will join Aidel Belamide, who had already been proclaimed last year, for the two seats to be occupied in the said elective post. —Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
