2 injured, 17 vehicles damaged in alleged drunk-driving incident in Naga
An allegedly drunk driver crashed his SUV into 17 vehicles and injured 2 individuals near the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral in Naga City, Camarines Sur.
According to a 24 Oras report by Cris Novello on Friday, the driver initially crashed into four vehicles, and fellow motorists and nearby police asked the motorist to step out of his vehicle.
The driver drove back and forth instead and drove away, almost dragging and running over police and witnesses trying to block his path.
Not too far from the initial crash, the SUV driver proceeded to crash into 13 more vehicles.
“Lahat ng nakapark doon inararo nitong Montero. Mayroong single motorcycle, may tricycle, mayroong mga four wheel,” said Naga City Police Office Spokesperson Police Senior Master Sergeant Tobias Bongon.
(The SUV crashed in everything that was parked. There was one motorcycle, a tricycle, there were four-wheeled vehicles.)
The two victims were injured in the incident, including one individual who ended up underneath the SUV.
Fortunately, the incident occurred during a Feast of Our Lady of Peñafrancia procession, and only a few people were in the area.
The suspect, identified as Jefferson Anthony Mariano, was arrested. Mariano was suspected to have been driving drunk.
