BIAF-MILF warns of termination vs members disrupting peace and order

The Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces – Moro Islamic Liberation Front (BIAF-MILF) warned its members that they will be terminated if they engage in peace-spoiling activities, the Department of National Defense (DND) said on Tuesday.

In a statement on Tuesday, the DND said BIAF-MILF chief of staff Sammy Al Mansoor issued Memorandum No. 25-2023 to impose the penalty against violating members.

Dated August 18, the memorandum denounced the involvement of BIAF-MILF members in conflicts arising from family feuds or political rivalries.

For its part, the DND supported the move of the BIAF-MILF.

“The directive manifests the commitment of the MILF leadership to upholding and sustaining the Bangsamoro peace process and its attendant mechanisms,” the DND said.

“This move by the BIAF-MILF, likewise, allows the security sector to stay on track in the implementation of peace and development programs, especially in Mindanao,” it added.

The DND also vowed that the department and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will continue their collaboration and support for the Bangsamoro government in achieving genuine and lasting peace in the region. —Joviland Rita/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
