Magnitude 4.9 earthquake hits off Dalupiri Island coast in Cagayan

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit off the coast of Dalupiri Island (Calayan town), Cagayan early Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

PHIVOLCS earlier reported that a 5.3-magnitude quake hit the area.

The quake, which occurred at 1:30 a.m., was tectonic in origin with a depth of 4 kilometers.

No damages and aftershocks are expected to occur, the agency added. — BAP/KG, GMA Integrated News
