Six communist rebels killed in Bohol encounters —Army
Six suspected communist rebels were killed and seven high-powered firearms were confiscated in a series of encounters in Bilad, Bohol on Thursday.
According to a report from the Philippine Army-3rd Infantry Division, the successive encounters occurred between the Army’s 47th Infantry Battalion (47IB) and remnants of the defunct Bohol Party Committee under Domingo Compoc in Barangay Campagao, Bilar, Bohol.
"47IB were able to engage the armed rebels in six (6) successive encounters for more than 3 hours that started at about 07:35 in the morning," the report said.
They responded to the tip-off given by the local populace on the presence of the CTG forcibly asking the residents for food and supplies in the area.
"We will not stop until they will succumb into defeat or until everyone of them abandon their futile armed struggle," said 3ID Commander Major General Marion Sison.
He acknowledged the support and vigilance of the local populace by providing timely information on the whereabouts of NPAs.
Sison said this Major Engagement is a big blow to the CTGs operating in Bohol.
"As such, am again calling the remaining CNTs in Regions 6 and 7 to return to the folds of the law or you will suffer the same fate as your comrades in Bohol," MGen Sison noted. —NB, GMA Integrated News
