Ipo, Ambuklao, Binga dams continue to release water —PAGASA
Three Luzon dams continued to release water on Sunday morning after heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Typhoon Hanna poured, data from PAGASA showed.
Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan had one gate open at 0.15 meter at 6 a.m.
The reservoir water level (RWL) of Ipo Dam was at 101.07 meters at 6 a.m., which is over the 101-meter normal high water level (NHWL).
Ambuklao Dam in Benguet meanwhile had five gates open on Sunday morning at 2.5 meters.
The dam's RWL was at 751.53 meters, nearing the NHWL of 752 meters.
At Binga Dam in Benguet, on the other hand, six gates remained open on Sunday, same as on Saturday. The gate opening however was slightly bigger on Sunday at 3.3 meters.
Binga Dam's RHWL was at 573.23 meters on Sunday, just a few meters away from the NHWL of 575 meters.
The water level at some other dams went up on Sunday due to the rains from the Southwest Monsoon.
These are:
- Angat Dam: 201.43 meters RWL on Sunday (200.48 meters on Saturday);
- San Roque Dam: 257.89 meters RWL on Sunday (255 meters on Saturday);
- Pantabangan Dam: 192.23 meters RWL on Sunday (191.80 meters on Saturday); and
- Magat Dam: 178.77 meters RWL on Sunday (178.46 meters on Saturday).
Meanwhile, the water level at other Luzon dams went down slightly on Sunday. These are:
- La Mesa Dam: 79.63 meters RWL on Sunday (79.67 meters on Saturday); and
- Caliraya Dam: 286.24 meters RWL on Sunday (286.34 meters on Saturday).
Typhoon Hanna continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) which is expected to bring occasional to monsoon rains over the western portion of Luzon and Antique in the next three days, PAGASA said in its weather bulletin on Sunday morning. —KG, GMA Integrated News
