Ipo, Ambuklao, Binga dam gates open —PAGASA

Floodgates at Ipo, Ambuklao, and Binga dams were open as of Saturday morning to release water after days of heavy rains, data from PAGASA showed.

At 6 a.m., one gate was open at 0.30 meter at Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan.

The reservoir water level (RWL) at Ipo Dam was at 100.95 meters at the same time, which is near the 101-meter normal high water level (NHWL) or spilling level.

Meanwhile, four gates were open at 2 meters at Ambuklao Dam in Benguet.

The dam's RWL was at 751.94 meters on Saturday morning, very near the 752-meter NHWL.

At Binga Dam in Benguet, on the other hand, six gates with 3.0-meter opening were reported on Saturday morning.

The RWL at Binga Dam was at 574.95 meters at 6 a.m., nearing the 575-meter NHWL.

Meanwhile, the water level at other dams in Luzon mostly went up on Saturday after days of rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Typhoon Hanna and two other tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The following dams' RWL increased on Saturday compared to the reading a day before:

  • Angat Dam: 200.48 meters
  • La Mesa Dam: 79.67 meters
  • San Roque Dam: 255 meters
  • Pantabangan Dam: 191.80 meters

Only two Luzon dams registered a decrease in their water levels on Saturday, as follows:

  • Magat Dam: 178.46 meters
  • Caliraya Dam: 286.34 meters

Typhoon Hana continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat on Saturday which will bring occasional to monsoon rains over the western portion of Luzon, PAGASA said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
