Barangay captain candidate shot dead in Midsayap

A resident who has just filed his certificate of candidacy for barangay captain was killed after he was shot by a still unidentified assassin on Wednesday.

According to the report on "Saksi" by Alan Domingo of GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, victim Haron Dimalanes was shot at a plaza near the Commission of Elections office.

Investigation showed that a family feud or rido could be the motive behind the killing. It is also possible that politics had something to do with the crime.

The local government of Midsayap has condemned the incident and called on candidates in the town for unity and cooperation. The Comelec has tightened the security in the area.
