Baguio City anticipates over 10,000 tourists over the long weekend

Baguio City residents anticipate bumper-to-bumper traffic as tourists arrive in the city due to the long weekend.

According to a 24 Oras report by Russel Simorio, heavy traffic along the Marcos Highway extended to the center of Baguio City.

“Ang Kennon road talaga is closed to traffic. Although, passable siya pero sa residents lang and essential workers. Ang talagang main road na tinatahak ng ating mga turista ay Marcos Highway,” said Baguio City Police Public Information Officer Police Captain Angeline Dongpaen.

Friends and families flocked to iconic Baguio tourist spots despite the intermittent rains.

Baguio City Police placed uniformed personnel on watch around the clock as they anticipated up to 10,000 tourists arriving in the city during the weekend.

And amid the heavy city traffic, police emphasized that the number coding scheme was still in effect.

Meanwhile, the Baguio City Hotels and Restaurant Association said that numerous accommodation options were still available for tourists. — Jiselle Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
