13 persons hospitalized in Pangasinan after eating crabs

At least 13 persons were brought to the hospital in San Carlos City, Pangasinan when they complained of feeling nauseous, suffering  from stomach ache and dizziness after eating crabs that were not fresh.

In the report of GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon's Joann Ponsoy on "Saksi," seafood was served during a birthday party held in Barangay Bacnar in San Carlos City.

However, after eating about 30 persons experienced vomiting, diarrhea, and felt dizzy.

Barangay Bacnar Chairman Vicente Castro said the cooked food was ordered online.

At least 13 were brought to the hospital for treatment and the youngest patient was only eight years old.

Some visitors, however, decided to buy prescribed medicines and stayed home.

The birthday celebrant also experienced the same symptoms.

The online seller has been in contact with the birthday celebrant and the other patients. The seller also admitted that the crabs were no longer fresh.

"Yung mga pagkain po na may sarsa, madali rin po itong magkaroon po ng pagkapanis at maaari nga pong mag-cause ng food poisoning," said Pangasinan Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna de Guzman.

"Para nga po ma-prevent and food poisoning, kailangan po talaga na malinis ang (pag-prepare) ng pagkain. Emphasize natin yung kamay na nag-prepara, utensils na gagamitin niya 'yung work services, very important po yan," she added.  — BAP, GMA Integrated News
