PNP implements city-wide gun ban for Kadayawan Festival 2023

In observance of this year's "Kadayawan Festival: Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan," the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) implemented a city-wide and week-long gun ban from August 18 to 25.

"Suspension of Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) during the Celebration of 38th Kadayawan sa Davao 2023 for a period of 8 days within Davao City effective from 12:01 a.m. of August 18, 2023, to 11:59 p.m. of August 25, 2023," the DCPO said.

This was after the Philippine National Police granted the DCPO's request to suspend PTCFOR for eight days.

The PNP noted that only members of the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other Law Enforcement Agencies (OLEAs) performing official duties and in agency-prescribed uniforms will be allowed to carry firearms.

"This is to ensure that the activity will be free from firearm-related incidents for the safety of the community, as well as of the local and foreign tourists," the PNP said.

Moreover, the DCPO also deployed its security partners to ensure public safety.
