8 towns in Bulacan remain flooded

Eight towns in Bulacan are still submerged in floodwaters, according to Jonathan Andal's report on "24 Oras Weekend'' on Saturday.

In Paombong, the cause of the flood was the heavy rains of the past few days, while the flood in Hagonoy was a combination of rain and high tide.

Businesses and livelihoods have been affected for almost a week now, so others are finding ways to earn money, such as Abegail Garceles, a tricycle driver who temporarily sells grilled food.

Residents of Barangay San Miguel asked the government for relief goods.

Earlier today, residents took advantage of the good weather by cleaning up, and business owners started shopping for supplies.

Meanwhile, Barangay Lasip Chico in Dagupan City has been flooded for over a week, according to Russel Simorio of GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon.

Despite the chest-deep floods, some families stayed inside their homes.

The flood is expected to stay for five more days in the low-lying barangays due to the lack of a working drainage system, while Pantal River and Sinocalan River water levels remain high.

Aside from Barangay Lasip Chico, floodwater remains high in Barangay Malued, Lasip Grande, Bacayao Sur, Pogo Chico, and Pantal.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office reported that although the high tide has subsided during the day, light vehicles will still need to prepare for floods when traveling along the main road.

"Another worry is kapag umulan sa kabundukan, alam niyo naman itong previous baha is galing sa bundok. Sa ngayon, malakas ang ulan," said Ronald de Guzman, Dagupan City disaster risk reduction and management officer.

Thigh-deep floods are a problem for the people of Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Some children also turned floodwaters into swimming pools, while motorists experienced difficulties navigating flooded roads.

Dagupan City and Calasiao were placed under a state of calamity, along with the towns of Mangaldan, Sta. Barbara, and Mangatarem. — Sherylin Untalan/VBL, GMA Integrated News
