Apayao PDRRMO: Only crash site of missing Cessna confirmed

Only the location of the missing Cessna has been confirmed, the Apayao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said on Wednesday.

An officer earlier said that the two on board the ill-fated aircraft had been confirmed dead.

“We would like to clarify that the only confirmed information is the possible crash site of the missing Cessna 152. All other information are subject for verification,” the Apayao PDRRMO said in a social media post.

“A search and rescue team has already been dispatched to look for the exact location of the crash site. The aerial reconnaissance conducted earlier has been aborted due to inclement weather,” it added.

On Tuesday, the Cagayan Provincial Information Office said a Cessna plane bound for Tuguegarao City reportedly went missing after taking off from Laoag.

The small plane was last monitored 32 nautical miles from Alcala, Cagayan.

The Office of Civil Defense in Region 2 said two planes bound for the Tuguegarao airport took off from the Laoag City airport at 12:16 p.m.

Only one of them arrived at 1:11 p.m.

The Apayao PDRRMO on Wednesday afternoon said the missing plane was found along the border of Barangay Salvacion, Luna, and Barangay San Mariano in the Pudtol town. —NB, GMA Integrated News
