8k residents in Ilocos Sur receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
A barangay in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur received aid from the GMA Kapuso Foundation after being devastated by Typhoon Egay.
According to a report on “24 Oras,” Tuesday, Barangay Nanguneg West became isolated after the bridge that connects its residents to the town was damaged due to effects of the typhoon.
“Masakit talaga parang di ko na matanggap, ma’am, yung nangyayari sa amin. Ganito nang mahirap kami wala pa kaming matirhan, wala na kaming lahat,” says resident Cristina Britanico.
“Mahirap kasi yung naranasan namin kasi yung asawa ko hindi makalakad. Iniisip ko kung paano namin ilikas kasi mataas na yung tubig,” Mylene Vicente said.
GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Kapuso classrooms at Narvacan Elementary School served as temporary shelter for the evacuees.
The Foundation also crossed to Barangay Nanguneg West to distribute food packs to the residents.
A total of 8,000 residents in Narvacan and Bantay, Ilocos Sur were given aid.
“Mabuti nga nagpunta yung GMA ngayon kasi wala na kaming bigas. Iniisip namin ngayon wala kaming kakainin sa susunod,” Mylene said.
For those who are interested to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
