28 families lose homes as dike collapses in Nueva Ecija
Twenty-eight families lost their homes after a dike in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija collapsed due to the continuous rains.
According to a report on “24 Oras” Tuesday, residents said they noticed a crack in a portion of a dike on Saturday evening, possibly caused by the heavy rainfall.
No injuries or fatalities were reported from the incident. The affected families are now taking shelter at the evacuation center.
Meanwhile, several residents living near a river in Vintar, Ilocos Norte fled from their homes after cracks appeared on the land where their houses are situated.
Some of the affected families in Barangay Parparoroc are temporarily staying in their neighbors’ residences.
Local officials said residents will be forcibly evacuated should more cracks appear. —Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA Integrated News
