Angat Dam water level continues to rise; other dams' gates still open

The water level at Angat Dam in Bulacan continued to go up on Monday after days of heavy rains, data from PAGASA showed. 

At 6 a.m. on Monday, the reservoir water level (RWL) of Angat Dam was at 195.05 meters. This was a 1.21-meter increase over Sunday's reading of 193.84 meters.

Other Luzon dams also registered an increase in their water levels on Monday after rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Typhoon Falcon poured continuously:

• Ambuklao Dam: from 751.41 meters on Sunday to 751.53 meters on Monday
• San Roque Dam: from 258.51 meters on Sunday to 259.02 meters on Monday
• Pantabangan Dam: from 186.97 meters on Sunday to 187.43 meters on Monday
• Magat Dam: from 174.29 meters on Sunday to 175.35 meters on Monday
• Caliraya Dam: from 286.55 meters on Sunday to 287.75 meters on Monday

A few dams however had their water levels decrease on Monday:

• La Mesa Dam: from 79.79 meters on Sunday to 79.53 meters on Monday
• Binga Dam: from 574.63 meters on Sunday to 574.10 meters on Monday

The water level at Ipo Dam remained unchanged and stood at 101.05 meters on Monday morning.

Gates still open

Meanwhile, some dams still had their gates open as of Monday morning to release water and prevent spilling.

Ipo Dam had one gate open on Monday at 0.15 meters. One gate was open on Sunday at 0.20 meter.

Ambuklao Dam had one gate open at 0.5 meter. Four gates at 2.0-meters were open on Sunday.

Binga Dam closed three gates and only one gate is open at 0.3 meter on Monday.

More rains are expected on Monday as Typhoon Falcon (international name: Khanun) continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). 

The monsoon will bring occasional to monsoon rains over the western portion of Luzon in the next three days, PAGASA said in its bulletin on Monday morning. —KG, GMA Integrated News
