State of calamity declared in some Pampanga towns amid flooding
A state of calamity has been declared in some municipalities in Pampanga as strong rains over the last few days brought floods to several areas.
In a report by GMA TV One North Central Luzon's Russel Simorio on "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday, Pampanga's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said that a state of calamity was declared in Macabebe, San Simon, Sto. Tomas, and San Luis due to floods brought by Typhoon Egay.
The PDRRMO said that 222 barangays in 16 municipalities in the province are flooded.
According to the Office of Civil Defense Central Luzon, more than 189,000 families have been affected by the flooding in Region 3, and relief operations are continuing.
Egay left the Philippine Area of Responsibility last week, but its effects continue to affect parts of the country as another typhoon, Falcon, has formed, bringing more rain. — BM, GMA Integrated News
