700 families in Cagayan remain in evacuation centers due to Egay —PDRRMO
Around 700 families in the province of Cagayan, whose houses sustained damage due to Typhoon Egay, were still temporarily staying in evacuation centers, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said Sunday.
Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Cagayan PDRRMO head Ruelie Rapsing, however, said that most of the residents transferred to evacuation centers already went back to their homes and only those whose houses were damaged stayed there.
“Wala na pong baha. Katunayan, ang mga in-evacuate nating mga kababayan natin ay nakauwi na ng kanilang mga bahay, bukod na lang do’n sa mga bahay nila ay totally damaged at partially damaged,” he said.
(There are no more floods. In fact, our evacuees have already returned to their houses, apart from those whose houses were totally damaged and partially damaged.)
Rapsing also said there were no reported casualties in the province due to Egay.
He said the governor of Cagayan is planning to recommend placing the province under a state of calamity.
Egay exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) late Thursday night, but Severe Tropical Storm Falcon which currently enhances the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring occasional to monsoon rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas in the next three days, according to PAGASA. —KG, GMA Integrated News
