BFP launches rescue ops for Egay victims in Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya
The Bureau of Fire Protection has launched two search and rescue operations in the northern Philippine provinces of Benguet and Nueva Vizcaya in light of Typhoon Egay's impact in the said areas.
In a Facebook post, the BFP said that in Solano town in Nueva Vizcaya, three individuals were successfully rescued on Tuesday night after being trapped under their house due to a fallen tree.
Timely response aided with professional expertise and specialized equipment were said to be the reason behind the successful operation, the BFP said.
Meanwhile, the BFP said in another FB post that an “active clearing operation is in effect in Burnham Park, Baguio City and a search and rescue operation in the municipality of Buguias in response to a landslide incident involving a residential building.”
The BFP said “the presence of fallen trees, debris-strewn roads, and damaged structures has impeded mobility, hindering the much-needed flow of essential services and assistance to those in need.”
“The teams involved are making significant strides towards ensuring a speedy recovery for Cordillera Administrative Region, demonstrating the resilience and determination of the community in the face of adversity caused by Typhoon Egay,” the BFP said.
“The successful rescue operation in [Barangay Roxas, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya] serves as a testament to the dedication and competence of the emergency response teams in safeguarding the lives and well-being of the public during times of crisis,” it added. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
