Aurora fishermen affected by rough seas from Egay
While fishermen in Aurora province were unable to sail due to the large waves caused by Super Typhoon Egay, some Baler residents still dared to swim in the sea despite the "no swimming policy."
These swimmers were immediately ordered to return to shore by patrolling police officers in the area, according to GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon Russel Simorio's report on "24 Oras."
The fishermen, meanwhile, were looking for alternative ways to earn a living as their boats were pulled up the beach for safety.
In Dipaculao, residents living near the shore in Barangay Mijares were evacuated.
"Pagdating kasi ng paglaki ng tubig, umaabot sa kanilang bahay kaya 'yan ang ginagawa namin sa barangay. Ilikas po,” said Barangay Mijares Councilor Master Pagay.
However, after a few hours, some evacuees immediately returned to their homes due to fears that their belongings and livestock would be stolen.
In Casiguran, some ships and tugboats remained at anchor due to Egay.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the Maritime Police continue to monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, food packs were being prepared for distribution to those affected by the super typhoon.
Residents in the town of San Luis were also advised to be prepared for the threat of landslides.
“‘Yung mga national roads natin, nakaantabay naman diyan ang DPWH, gayundin ang probinsya. May mga equipment naman tayo na naka preposition na in case na magkaroon ng landslide,” said DRRM Officer, Engineer Elson Eguargue. — Sherylin Untalan/DVM, GMA Integrated News
