Army, PNP arrest woman in Monkayo, Davao de Oro for alleged rebellion
A manhunt by the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army in Monkayo, Davao de Oro on Friday led to the arrest of a woman whom government forces have accused of rebellion.
In a statement, the PNP Crime Investigation and Detection Group said Hannah Alcorin "Kat" Hitgano, 23, was "wanted for rebellion and insurrection under Article 134 of the Revised Penal Code," and that a warrant of arrest was issued against her by a Davao City judge in October 2022.
Describing her as a "high-ranking official" of a "communist terror group," CIDG Director Police Major General Romeo Caramat Jr. said that Hitgano served as secretary general of Anakbayan and was on the cultural staff of the youth sector of the Regional White Area Committee (RWAC) of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) of the CPP-NPA.
