Honest Cauayan Airport employee returns lost P82K cash, valuable items
An employee of Cauayan Airport was commended for returning cash amounting to P82,000 and other valuable items belonging to an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
In a statement, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Alexander Nuñez, a maintenance person, turned over a green envelope along with missing cash to the airport's lost and found on Monday afternoon.
Inspection revealed that the found envelope contained approximately P82,000 in cash, along with a passport, identification cards, and a cellphone of the OFW.
The CAAP praised Nuñez for his display of honesty and urged other employees to follow his example.
"We are proud of Mr. Nuñez for his integrity and commitment to service," CAAP Area Center 2 Manager Mary Sulyn Sagorsor said. "May his actions be an inspiration to all CAAP employees."
For his part, Cauayan Airport Manager Greysen Villoria said Nuñez's "act of honesty reflects the values we uphold at Cauayan Airport."
"We always strive to provide a safe and secure environment for all passengers here and ensure their belongings are handled with care," Villoria said.
"We are glad to have Mr. Nuñez as part of our team."
The OFW, identified as Evelyn Ignacio Lakaden, was able to retrieve her items on the same day, the CAAP said. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/KBK, GMA News
