1 dead, 1 hurt in Cavite jeepney accident

A student died while a jeepney helper was injured in an accident that occurred in front of a supermarket along Congressional Avenue in Dasmariñas, Cavite late Tuesday afternoon, James Agustin reported on "Saksi."

A CCTV footage showed a group of students walking along the road and after a few minutes a jeepney hit a fence along the road. Two of the students were able to escape but one student was pinned to the railing. 

The 16-year-old student was rushed to the hospital but he died.

A passenger at the front seat fell out of the jeep, which was also hit by another jeepney.

The helper, who was onboard the jeep, was injured in the accident.

The police said the jeep just finished unloading coconuts before the accident occurred.

The driver, identified as Zaldy  Bago, is in police custody. He said the jeep lost its brakes.

Bago may be facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and damage to property.  — BAP, GMA Integrated News
