Barangay captain shot dead in Norzagaray, Bulacan

A barangay chairman was shot to death in Norzagaray, Bulacan as he was headed home from a gathering with barangay councilors.

According to Nico Waje's report on "24 Oras Weekend," the victim, Marcelino Punzal, chairman of Barangay Bangkal, was shot at around 8 p.m. on Friday.

Punzal's vehicle was riddled with bullet holes.

The victims' relatives were also clueless about the possible motive for the killing.

Dahil humantong sa ganitong pagkakataon,” said Nimrod Punzal.

Punzal was supposed to run again in the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

The police have yet to say whether the killing was political.

— Sherylin Untalan/DVM, GMA Integrated News
